第三届中国人民大学考古国际学术研讨会：中国北方考古与欧亚文明

欢迎各位专家学者莅临秋高气爽的北京，参加由中国人民大学北方民族考古研究所、中国人民大学历史学院考古文博系主办，吉林大学边疆考古研究中心、俄罗斯历史与物质文化研究所和蒙古国科学院历史与考古研究所协办的“第三届中国人民大学考古国际学术研讨会·中国北方考古与欧亚文明”学术会议！
中国人民大学历史学院于2004年创立“考古学及博物馆学”专业，并于2005年初组建了“中国人民大学北方民族考古研究所”。此后，中国人民大学的考古学科建设逐渐发展起来：2005年设置考古学及博物馆学博士、硕士学位授予点，并开始招收研究生；2006年启动了历史专业本科生和考古专业研究生的田野考古实习；2007年成立中国人民大学博物馆并举办文物陈列；2010年获准设立考古学博士后科研流动站；2011年7月考古学获教育部一级学科博士授予权；同年9月设置“文物与博物馆专业硕士”学位授予点并开始招生；2012年成为中国考古学会团体会员；2013年1月获得国家文物局颁发的“考古团体发掘资格”；同年经教育部批准，设置考古学本科专业并开始招生；同年10月，中国人民大学考古文博系正式成立，魏坚教授任系主任；2014年，在国家文物局的支持下，在辽宁喀左县建立了“中国人民大学历史学院考古文博系田野考古实习基地”。至此，中国人民大学考古学科形成了完备的本、硕、博学科培养体系。
中国人民大学考古文博系目前设有北方民族考古、先秦考古、汉唐宋元考古、文博科技四个教研室；现有专职教师13人，兼职教师1人。其中教授5人、兼职教授1人、副教授4人，讲师4人，其中2人为外籍教师，均拥有博士学位，另有外聘专业硕士导师8人。截至目前共有博士后进站研究人员8人，在读博士研究生21名、学术型硕士研究生31名、专业硕士研究生55名，其中留学生10名。成立考古文博系后已招收五届本科生。

Ⅰ. Welcome note
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the autumn of Beijing to participate to the Third Renmin University of China Conference on International Archaeology•Northern China and Eurasian Civilization. The conference is sponsored by the Archaeology of Northern Ethnicity Institute of Renmin University of China and co-organized by the Research Center for Chinese Frontier Archaeology of Jilin University, the Institute of History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
In 2004, Renmin University of China hired Professor Wei Jian, former deputy director of the Inner Mongolia Institute of Archaeology, to establish the Archaeology and Museum Studies graduate program. In early 2005, he established the Archaeology of Northern Ethnicity Research Institute at Renmin University of China to focus archaeological research within the department. Since then, archaeology at Renmin University of China gradually developed into one of the best archaeology programs in the country. In 2005, the Department began recruiting PhD and masters degree students. Starting in 2006, the program began a fieldwork internship program for undergraduate students. 2007 saw the founding of the Renmin University of China Museum. In 2010, the program became established as a post-doctoral research station in archaeology, and started recruiting post-doctoral researchers. In July 2011, archaeology was given the status of first-level independent subject of study by the Ministry of Education. In September 2011 the program began to admit masters degree students in archaeology and museum studies. In 2012, it became a member of the Society of the Chinese Archaeology. In January 2013, the program gained the license to carry out excavations from the Cultural Relics Bureau. Later that year, the Ministry of Education granted the university approval to be able to accept undergraduate students majoring in archaeology. October that same year, the Department of Archaeology and Museum Studies was formally established under the School of History in Renmin Univeristy of China with Professor Wei Jian as head of the department. Earlier this year, the department, in collaboration with the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, established a collaborative field school in Kazuo County, Liaoning province. At this point, the program is able to grant undergraduate, masters and PhD degrees, as well as provide fieldwork training to students.
The Department of Archaeology and Museum Studies at Renmin University of China currently has four specialties. The faculty is comprised of 13 full-time scholars, including 5 full professors, 4 associate professors, and 4 assistant professors. Two assistant professors are foreign scholars, one from Belgium and one from the United States. All of the full time faculty staff hold PhDs. The faculty also includes 8 part-time teachers and 8 postdoctoral researchers. Currently, the department has 21 PhD students, 86 masters degree students, 10 foreign exchange students and 5 class of undergraduates has enrolled.
The faculty have received grants from the National Social Science Foundation and the Beijing Municipal Social Science Foundation. The faculty's scholarship has been recognized in their fields within China and abroad. The faculty has participated in excavation and conservation related to major national projects. Over the years, through academic visits, joint research and organizing conferences and seminars, the department has established relationships with institutions and researchers from The United States, Israel, Russia, Mongolia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
After more than ten years of development, The Department of Archaeology and Museum Studies at Renmin University of China has grown into a major force in Chinese archeology. In the areas of faculty development, personnel and student training, academic research, academic exchanges and overall scholarship continues to be of the highest quality. The department will build on this foundation as archaeology at Renmin University of China continues to grow for years to come. In 2014, Professor Wei Jian became member of the Appraisal Group for the Discipline of Archaeology within the State Council Academic Degrees Committee. To this day, archaeology at Renmin University of China has an important role to play in the field of Chinese archaeology: its expertise is rooted in the archaeology of the northern steppe area, it reaches the western territories, has a foot in the Central Plains and develops towards the Yangzi River course.
